The Acoustic Platform Live is the greatly anticipated new acoustic night. We are showcasing some of the best local, national and international acts and artists around to bring a night of unique sounds of classics and originals from the artist themselves!
Our first Acoustic Platform Live presents The 2 Pauls, Dawn Moss, Chilli, Katy Hurt and compère Stevie – One Bloke, One Mandolin. This is a great mix of national and local talent that’s not to be missed. Come down and see for yourself. Here’s a few tasters below of some of these great artists!
A bit about Katy Hurt
“Music started to get serious for me when, at the age of 13, I had the pleasure of spending time in Memphis and whilst at Sun Studios got the chance to record a cover version of “Girls just wanna have fun”; in the same place where Elvis recorded his first hits. I was hooked. I felt right there and then that I belonged. Next stop was Nashville and I spent many hours knocking on doors in the hope that a record company would take my demo!
Fast forward 3 years and I was lucky enough to spend a day at Sticky Company Studios with Jake Gosling. Mikill Pane was kind enough to ask me to record the intro to his – “You Guest It” EP featuring Ed Sheeran, Paloma Faith & Example.”
More recently, Katy went in to the Sunshine Corner Studios with producer Smiley, to work on her EP ‘Blue Snake’. This EP is very personal to Katy. She writes songs that capture experiences of places, people and how she feels. If you share any of those feelings, or if she can make you dance or sing, these songs are for you! Katy Hurt is a name to remember! Check out her cover of ‘Dear Darling’ below…
STEViE’s music is gutsy, edgy and raw – a hardcore, barstool troubadour – with a voice as raw as cigarettes and single malt in a backstreet bar late on a Saturday night.
